CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE

 

We are seeking an experienced, well organized, customer centric, highly motivated, Customer Service Representative to join our team.   The successful candidate will have great attention to detail, be able to multi-task and possess excellent computer skills. Hours of this position are 8:00am until 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Prepare customer quotations.
  • Enter sales orders. Includes proofreading orders for accuracy, sending order acknowledgements to customers and filing paperwork.
  • Communicate order status to customer from start to finish.
  • Check status of orders and/or expedite orders on behalf of customer.
  • Track customer sales orders and provide proof of delivery to customers upon request.
  • Enter and update information in customer management database.
  • Handle customer complaints and complete all associated paperwork.
  • Solicit orders from current/past customers.
  • Act as a resource for assigned Regional Sales Manager regarding the daily activity of your shared accounts.
  • Answer customer service calls. Includes routing calls, screening calls, taking messages, taking orders, giving verbal quotes, answering technical questions, etc.
  • Assist with other sales/marketing tasks as needed. 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Associates Degree or work equivalent.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of inside sales and/or customer service experience.
  • Proficient use of computer system, word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Strong professional communication/correspondence skills.
  • Excellent problem resolution and analytical skills along with being able to exercise independent decision making within established guidelines.
  • Exceptional critical thinking skills.
  • Work effectively in a team environment.
  • High attention to detail and proven ability to work under pressure.
  • Experience with industrial products helpful.
  • Working knowledge of Goldmine and/or Made2Manage software a plus.
  • Math skills for working in different measurement standards and calculating prices accordingly.

TERRITORY MANAGER/OUTSIDE SALES REPRESENTATIVE

 

We are seeking a well-organized, customer centric, highly motivated Territory Manager/Outside Sales Representative to join our team.   As we continue to penetrate and find success in the marketplace, we are in search of an individual with exceptional relationship building skills and strong sales abilities to maintain our existing business and secure and develop new long-term business. The successful candidate will possess a combination of business development with industrial sales and technical experience.  This position is located in our corporate office in Glendale Heights, IL.

 

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Grow the business within the territory using a sales process with agreed upon measurable activities that demonstrate progress towards key metrics.
  • Maintain and expand customer base by building and continuing rapport with key customers; providing appropriate training and support to distributors and identifying new customer opportunities.
  • Prepare and deliver sales proposals/presentations and follow up with key decision makers.
  • Build, track and manage a pipeline of qualified opportunities to closure.
  • Complete cold call prospecting activities to establish first and follow up appointments with customer decision makers.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of Simmons’ products and pricing structure.
  • Regularly meet with Director of Sales & Marketing to review weekly sales activities, progress on goals, and status of prospective customers.
  • Attend industry trade shows to accumulate new leads and make productive contact with existing clients. Conduct thorough follow-up with territory leads after the close of the shows.
  • Use customer and prospect contact tools and software, and update relevant information held in these systems.
  • Stay on top of industry trends to identify potential opportunities for company growth. Includes identifying new product opportunities, and/or product, packaging, and service changes; surveying consumer needs and trends; tracking competitors.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks.
  • Plan and arrange business travel and accommodations.

RELATIONSHIPS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Reports to the Director of Sales & Marketing. Frequently interfaces with other sales personnel, customer service, customers, distributors, accounting, manufacturing and other company personnel.
  •  Planning and project management.
  • Proven analytical/problem solving solutions for the customer and the company.
  • Strong professional, well written communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation, negotiation, and closing skills.
  • Computer proficiency in Windows and Microsoft applications.
  • Self-motivation and ability to work independently to meet or exceed goals.
  • Ability to conduct business relationships with customers at various organizational levels.

 REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • 2+ years of experience in a customer-facing sales role (business to business), preferably in industrial applications.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Proven track record of building business and hitting sales targets.
  • Strong relationship building skills.
  • Strong written/verbal communications skills, cross-functional team philosophy, and project management skills.
  • Physically stand for extended periods of time during exhibitions.
  • Understanding of ISO and Lean helpful.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Base salary + commission and bonus
